Expand Requests/Offers Limit?

There's been concerns about matchability and whether anyone will make offers for your particular tiny fandoms. Would it be helpful to you to have more requests and/or offers and therefore more potential matches?

Please answer in the comments!

I would very much like that :) I really had to debate with myself which fandoms to request, because I had to cut out about 3 or 4 that I still really wanted.

I'm in the same boat when it comes to requests. I ended up only offering some fandoms I'd have liked to request myself because after the vast amount of nominations I could make, I couldn't request them all.

Whether that would actually make anyone else offer to write them...? So far I seem unmatchable in both directions. Unfortunately there's not much I can offer, unrelated to the maximum amount of offers I can make. I simply don't know most fandoms. :-(

Maybe someone offered your fandoms as part of their bucket offer? Then it wouldn't show up in the sign ups page.
Even if you're not matchable for your requests, maybe someone will you pick you up in pinch hits! Don't lose hope! :)

I wonder if there's a way to increase the number of fandoms requested/offered, say to 20 (since you allowed 20 during nominations), and ask people not to make bucket offers. I know that I personally use the sign-up summary to see if anyone would be matched to me at all (I have eleven fandoms and I'm matched on just one), so this would be really helpful for anyone with >10 fandoms still trying figure out which ten to request/offer for. Because if you see that you're the only one offering for this fandom (and didn't know someone else put it in the bucket offer) you might just change your sign-up or even withdraw altogether.

Also, it would be helpful if someone requests for ten fandoms and then offers at least six or seven, instead of requesting for ten and only offering three.

As someone who made a bucket offer, I would have no problem changing it if the mods increased the number of offers allowed. I do agree that it might help people decide what to request, especially since I offered for super obscure fandoms that might not get other offers.

I keep forgetting about bucket offers, but my bigger worry is that I only have two fandoms that were not my nominations I can offer. And last I checked no one requested them. Nor those I nominated and offer. :-/

I wonder if it would help to ask people to offer as many fandoms as they request? Or would that be too much of a limit for people who don't have as many fandoms? (I usually try to avoid offering fandoms that I'm also requesting until the last minute, since it takes them off of the Most Demanded lists, but I don't think that's going to be as much of an issue here.)

Yeah I was about to submit my requests but when I checked the Sign Up Summary- only one of those fandoms has anyone offering for it, so I'm not sure if I can even sign up since there's no way to tell if that person is even offering the pairings I have. And it's weird because some of my fandoms I *thought* were a little more mainstream than others, but I guess not.

Perhaps have a list of what people are offering so people know they can request those things and there's a match out there somewhere?

Not a mod, but you can sign up. In fact, please sign up. So many people think they might be unmatchable and either don't sign up or even worse, delete their signup. Then oops someone else sees that they no longer have a match and they delete. Pretty soon the exchange is down to just a handful of people. That's what happened with the tag exchange last week.

If you sign up and stay in, the WORST that can happen is that you do turn out to be unmatchable either as a recipient (meaning you go to the pinch hit list) or as a writer (and you're asked to either add more offers or withdraw.) Either way, it's not the end of the world.

Also, a lot of people use the sign-up summary to adjust their offers, because if no one is requesting something there's no point in wasting an offers slot on it. But if it shows up in the list as requested, then they might offer it after all.

Oh how I wish I was in that situation where I'd have to worry about wasting offers slots. I have free offer slots and lack fandom knowledge to offer more. :-(

This is an excellent idea. (Right now only one of my non-bucket offers is being shown on the summary page, because no one's requested them. It would very likely help someone to know that there's someone out there who would write them something for a fandom if they asked for it. Granted, it wouldn't take people who requested/offered certain relationships into account, but it's something.)

I will add my vote to this and change my last offer to a bucket offer :)

Just wondering - can I ask why manips aren't allowed? I mean, it would certainly solve a lot of the matching problems, since you don't even need to know a fandom to do a manip for it, you just need to be able to find the pictures. (I can Google the episodes list on Wikipedia, then grab a specific episode that catches my eye to screenshot, for instance.) Not to mention, for me at least I don't want to write some relationships in a fandom, but I wouldn't have any issues with putting them in the same picture.

If it's the fact that you usually take longer to write 1,000 words than to do a manip, then make the minimum stipulation a set of say 2 big + 3 small manips or something?

Can I just ask why manips weren't allowed in the first place, though? I was just wondering about the reasons, because a lot of exchanges don't allow it.

Ah, that certainly makes a lot of sense! Thank you (:

I am completely incapable of drawing anything more difficult than stick figures, sadly.

I'm good with it.

I meant I'm good with expanding it (never try to communicate in the morning before a coffee).

what happens to your requests that don't get an offer? I didn't nominate one of my fandoms but still put it in my requests.
