Fandom Name: Quest for Glory
Where to find the canon: It's a relatively old game series, but they are all for sale (and frequently on sale) at GOG.com here.
It's hard to get everything from an LP in a game with multiple classes, but if you wanna take a look, here are a couple I've found so far:
Quest for Glory 1 (VGA)
Quest for Glory 2 (EGA)

What I love about it: It's a sort of Adventure Game/RPG hybrid, and I think it combines a lot of the best attributes of both. The puzzles avoid a lot of the ridiculousness of adventure games, and character advancement is a lot of fun to do. There are a lot of really interesting characters, fun and pretty environments, and great music.

Caveat: The game doesn't treat all of the cultures that it plays with well, especially in the second and third games.

Fandom Name: Shokugeki no Souma
Where to find the canon: The manga is here at the scanlator's site and the anime is here on Crunchyroll.
What I love about it: Shokugeki has a lot of the same appeal as sports animanga, except it's about cooking. Souma is a very likable mc, he's seriously one of my favorites in a long while, and there's a lovable cast full of very cute characters. There's a lot of fanservice but it's omnipandering, as in, there are a lot of scantily clad boys and men if the fanservice the ladies provide in the manga isn't your cup of tea. The fanservice comes in the form of foodgasms, by the way. However, don't let fanservice scare you off, the series has a lot more going for it than just that. I love the wonderful and supportive friendships and rivalries that don't take themselves too seriously. The art is fantastic and filled with drool-worthy depictions of gourmet food. The manga even has a consulting chef, so the food has all been researched! All in all, Shokugeki no Souma is a lot of fun to read and watch. I think it's a really refreshing experience.

Fandom Name: Rose is Rose (Comics)
Where to find the canon: Go Comics - There's a dropdown calendar for archives back to 2005.
What I love about it: Rose is Rose is a daily comic in the news, though I've been reading Rose is Rose since childhood. It's the kind of comic where the characters never actually grow older. I love the entire lovable Gumbo family of Jimbo, Rose, their son Pasquale, his guardian angel, their kitten, and Rose's mother, Meemaw, who visits by times.

Rose is just so delightful with her spice-loving, motorcycling alter ego, her sulks, her tree to let things be, the way she'll shrink into appropriately-sized childlike delight for puddles and rainbows and springtime, and then all the domestic fun of running her household.

Peekaboo is the adorable and problematic family kitten who can stretch to ridiculous lengths to enjoy sunshine, laps, snubbing meals, and knocking over objects in the feline version of art and a job well done. She attends the kitten support group for stepped on tails, chasing the songbirds (delightful) and squirrels (exasperating), and gets her claws snagged on clothing, curtains, etc. to be left hanging in adorable fashion.

Pasquale is just all fun little boy and plays with his guardian angel, makes weather suggestions, which said guardian angel implements via heavenly software (really), and forgets unwelcome suggestions when little Pasquale-lookalike guardian angel goes into huge, heavenly warrior mode.

This is just the sweetest, warm fuzzy comic.

Fandom Name: SOKO Donau | Vienna Crime Squad (or SOKO Wien in Germany)
Where to find the canon: plenty of it on youtube
What I love about it: While this is another cop show, it's not the crime plot that makes this show stand out for me, but the wonderful characters. I adore how the different personalities clash, argue, get annoyed at each other but don't let it stand between them. They've become like a big family over the course of the show. They are fiercely loyal to each other and when one of them gets into trouble, the others are on the war path! But these characters are also snarky, witty, they banter, they tease each other good-naturedly and so I go from aww to LOL and back within a single episode.

Fandom Name: Der Bergdoktor | Mountain Medic
Where to find the canon: I think most of it is on youtube
What I love about it: I'm not usually into doctor or hospital shows, but I really like the characters on this show, especially the Mountain Medic Martin Gruber and his best pal, the surgeon Alexander Kahnweiler. There are always funny exchanges between these two that lighten the mood of the drama (people never just have a cold in this show, always something serious and extremely rare).

Fandom Name: Bonekickers
Where to find the canon: youtube is your friend again
What I love about it: Archaeologists and adventures - if you like Indiana Jones why not check this out? For me, again my love for this show has a lot to do with the diversity of the well-painted characters. They all have their own motivation for their work, most have a backstory with each other and they're a close-knit group, some more willing to welcome newcomers into it than others. Put this group onto a quest, up against adversaries, include a fame-hungry boss at the university they work for and you've got all you need for good entertainment.

Fandom Name: Sea Patrol
Where to find the canon: Can you guess? It's on youtube!
What I love about it: Ships! Yay! Sorry, I adore naval adventures and I like a diverse group of characters working together, each of them being awesome in their own way. Well, this show has got it all. Adventure, the sea, diverse characters that fight together, have each other's back or play practical jokes on each other during quiet hours at sea! There are funny moments, there are thrilling moments, there are sad moments, there are touching moments. Just - watch some of it?

Fandom Name: Razor Sharp (2006)

Where to find the canon: Vimeo or on Youtube in three parts.

What I love about it: Less than 30 minutes, but it packs in the characterization of a small crew with a lot of history, backstory with a sleazy but fun fence, and an interesting plot. It feels like the pilot of a half hour TV show to me with a banged up operation like Firefly, thieves and grifters like Leverage (minus a tad bit of the altruism), and a fun comic book feel without the superpowers. I nominate it almost every exchange I participate in and it's short enough I beg you to watch it and decide whether it's your own cuppa.

The Characters

Veronica Sharpe: a thief/corporate grifter with a code of ethics. She'll steal software or hardware, but not art and certainly not what Dex just dropped in her lap. Played by Cassidy Freeman, aka Tess Mercer in Smallville. She's a little clumsy with a lot of heart and a knack to keep going and get the job done creatively and humorously despite a whole lot of problems along the way.

Bryce: the Russian mastermind who worked with her father and provides the banged up gear they use. Veronica's clearly like his daughter and he has some of the funniest lines in the film—and a computer he calls her sister. Priceless.

Dex: the fence with the stack of jobs and the "fruity lapels." Dex found Veronica after their last disagreement and parting of the ways by tracking her Macy's card. Somehow he's endearing while simultaneously offputting. Played by Michael T. Weiss, aka the Pretender. Yeah, that pretender.

Isis: A hacker kid who doesn't know what to make of Veronica's "unprofessionalism" but quickly gets with the program, turns helpful, and is no damsel in distress. She hits Veronica upside the head before she figures out they're allies. Played by Skye McCole Bartusiak.

Fandom Name: Starwalker - Melanie Edmonds
Where to find the canon: starwalkerblog.com
What I love about it: Starry is a ship that's come to life that wasn't supposed to. Technically, she's experimental technology that can "step" faster than light (or faster even than standard FTL) using stars. The first time went wrong though because she was sabotaged and her AI ended up fused with the mind of her driver and Starry was born.

I love Starry, who's funny and sweet and protective and fierce and her engineer who's just priceless and grouchy tech person she falls for and tries to keep fed and her BOTS are adorable little things with so much personality. Think Stark's bots, only JARVIS level personality and the other bots' level speaking parts.

So many people are after Starry and trying to destroy or use her, but I just love the characters and character interactions so much. The plot is good, but the characters are even better.

Fandom Name: To Kiss the Granite Choir - Michael Anthony Ashley
Where to find the canon: Part I | Part II
What I love about it: This is a two-part short story published in Beneath Ceaseless Skies and the worldbuilding is fascinating. The Baremescre clan "sing" by fighting with the swords (songs) that grow from their bodies.

Imre is the main character and he's an exile from his own land/house and accidentally ends up indentured to the Baremescre because he tried to defend the honor of the daughter of their rulers, Cantilena.

There's sword fighting and a teasing brother and emotion and heartwrenching stuff at the end, and it's just absolutely awesome digging into the world and finding out some of the surprises along the way.

Fandom Name: Fight Quest
Where to find the canon: Legally purchase from the Discovery Channel, or find on youtube or bittorrent
What I love about it: It's an awesomely hot kinky reality show where two butch guys travel the world to learn different martial arts. If you like chiseled dudes with tattoos and lots of punching and blood, get in this fandom ASAP. Man, I wish I had known about this fest earlier, when I could have signed up! This fandom is too dang tiny.

Fandom Name: The Sword of Welleran - Lord Dunsany
Where to find the canon: Here on Project Gutenberg; multiple e-formats available. It's the first story in the book.
What I love about it: This is a short story published in 1908 by early fantasy writer Lord Dunsany. The language is very beautiful, and I love the concept of it. The souls of six dead warriors sense that their beloved city is threatened and return as dreams in order to save it. The story is almost dream-like itself.

Awesome, I hope you like it! (I should possibly mention that this story, being written when it was, does refer to the desert tribes who are the city's enemies in uncomfortable-making ways at times. But I like the story for what it does well.)

Fandom Name: Grayson (comics)

Where to find the canon: Purchase it legally on Comixology or Amazon (for vol. 1 only). For other options, drop me a PM. :P Or you can check out panels & such on Graysonology.

What I love about it: You know how American comics are notorious for being aimed at the straight, white, male reader? Grayson is not one of those comics. It's tremendously fun & refreshing in how it subverts all kinds of tropes in the spy genre, has a very diverse and cool cast, and the art is fun to look at. You don't need to know anything about Batman or even DC comics to follow along this book, as it's written for both old readers, and also for new readers to get to know Grayson and the wider DC universe.

The story is that Dick Grayson, the first Robin, former Nightwing, and one of Batman's closest allies, has to fake his death and go undercover in a dodgy secret organisation at Batman's request. Isolated from his family and friends, Grayson becomes Agent 37 for Spyral, and has to navigate the ruthless world of espionage while keeping his principles & outlook on life intact.

As mentioned, the support cast of characters is incredibly diverse & attractive, and includes:
- Helena Bertinelli/the Matron, who is badass with a crossbow & also gets promoted to Big Boss of Spyral later in the series;
- The Tiger, Spyral's best agent who is very intense & smouldering;
- Midnighter, a gay Batman pastiche who recognises Grayson by his ass and kidnaps him for dates. They are frenemies;
- Students from St. Hadrian's Finishing School for Girls, which trains up young women into spies/assasins and & doubles up as Spyral's headquarters. (They save the day!)

And it's not all about the male objectification! Don't take my word for it, here's a nice summary by tumblr user drakefeathers:
[...] there’s all this like. plot. ?? and dick saving kids and beating midnighter in a fight and beating amazo in a fight and facing down luthor and outsmarting an entire organization of spies by secretly contacting the batcave through his clock radio and saving the world with the power of positive emotion

This sounds too amazing to pass up on, so I pre-ordered the softcover edition of volume 1. Available in 159 days. Erk. I didn't know comics did the whole hardcover/softcover thing, too, now.

Thanks for the promotion comment - sorry it won't actually result in me getting to know this fandom well enough in time to maybe offer it for this exchange. ^^;

Ah, I'm sorry about that! Is the price the issue between hardcover/softcover? Because I notice the hardcover is on sale on Amazon right now, for a similar list price to the softcover. But if it's personal preference thing, ignore me. XD

But seriously, if I've helped bring another reader into the fold, then I am happy 8D

Fandom Name: Ever After High
Where to find the canon: Part is on Youtube and the rest is on Netflix
What I love about it: It is a fandom that can easily be picked up and learnt using just youtube and Netflix. It is about the current generation of fairy tale characters with themes of destiny, free will, duty and happiness. The characters can be on opposite sides but still care about each other and be good friends. Did I mention all the shipping potential? It has a fun sense of humor too.

Fandom Name:The Glamourist Histories, by Mary Robinette Kowal (first book: Shades of Milk and Honey)
Where to find the canon: I don't have any suggestions except the library or purchasing it, but the series is pretty widely available, and there are inexpensive copies available on Amazon.
What I love about it: Do you like Regency romances? Do you like alternate histories, with really neat magical worldbuilding? Do you like heists, or fairly thoughtful examinations of historical social issues, or heartbreaking backstories? The Glamourist Histories has all of these things!

The first book has a fairly similar plot to many Austen novels, with protagonist Jane Ellsworth finding herself fascinated by Mr. Vincent, a glamour tutor. (Glamour is this universe's magic system, a type of illusion.) The next books in the series widen the scope, looking at politics (the second book has an espionage subplot focusing on conflicts between Britain and Spain), the social issues caused by glamour (the third novel focuses on a strike of coldmongers, lower-class glamourists who function as human air-conditioners), and more (future books take the main characters to Venice and the West Indies.)

The characters are sympathetic, the worldbuilding is fascinating, and there's so much that could be explored in fanfic! (There's a grand total of one fic, so there's lots of room for fic writers to explore.)

Feel free to comment or PM me if you'd like to know specific content warnings for the book (they do deal with some more serious issues like child abuse, slavery, etc), or if you'd like to know more in general!

Name: Reba Tv show

Where to find the canon: youtube, on dvd and perhaps on tv (I live in Scotland, it's not shown here so those in America might know)

What I love about it: Funny comedy about family, parenting and I love the relationships between the characters. Although I didn't nominate the show whoever did kudos, as it has one of my favourite pairings.
